Providers of driver education and training

All driver education and training for staff should be high quality and delivered by suitably qualified and experienced educators and trainers.

Evaluating providers and their training

It may be beneficial to research and evaluate several providers and courses to choose the most appropriate. Make sure the training is:

  • structured to suit your requirements
  • delivered by a provider with a long or proven industry reputation
  • doesn’t over-emphasise speed, performance or a simulated skills-based driving experience
  • evaluated over time to measure its effectiveness and the participants’ comprehension and retention of the information
  • reviewed regularly to evaluate its relevance to the organisation and effectiveness in improving driver safety
  • delivered in suitable training facilities.

Preferred driver training providers

You can find training service providers on the Queensland Government’s Contract Directory. See QFleet’s driver training supplier panel (QFL0002-20) for preferred training suppliers.

These suppliers deliver a variety of driver training, from slow manoeuvring techniques to 4WD skills and more. The training can be customised to suit your agency’s needs and is available state-wide.

Driving courses

The Mount Cotton Training Centre provides transport-related courses to improve the safety, efficiency and productivity of industry, and reduce road trauma in our community.

QFleet driver induction course

QFleet has developed new driver induction training for staff who drive a government work vehicle. This online training focuses on:

  • raising awareness that the vehicle is a workplace
  • informing staff of driver responsibilities.

We recommend that anyone who drives a government vehicle for work complete the induction, no matter how often or far they drive.
